AFTER THE RAIN
The air never smelled sweeter
to breathe in over and over again
as if breathing for the first time.
Can’t wipe the smile off my face,
everything is beautiful,
even the drooping weeping willow trees.
Snakes, salamanders and frogs emerging
out from Mother Nature’s umbrellas
as if a flood has subsided and they now
can get back to the business of eating
and procreating when no one is looking.
